Seth is a mentor and advisor for Spinta. Seth is excited to share his expertise with Spinta entrepreneurs by providing creative and pragmatic solutions to complex strategic and business challenges faced by young, high-growth companies, their teams, boards and investors. He is the CEO and Chief Investment Officer of EM Capital Management, LLC and Chairman of EM Capital Management (Hong Kong) Ltd. Seth has been an innovative and serial entrepreneur beginning at age 7, when he secretly molded 100’s of Mattel “Creepy Crawlers” at night in his bedroom and sold them at school. He enhanced his profit margins by convincing Mattel to sell him “Plastigoop” at wholesale prices!

Fast forward to his 35 year adult business career, Seth has been a hands-on global entrepreneurial executive, founder, partner, borrower, fund-raiser, investor and board member of startups and private equity deal sponsor across a range of industries. He is a recognized emerging and frontier markets and cross-border business expert with experience, for example, organizing and launching a one of the first India-focused mutual funds listed on NASDAQ; as lead portfolio manager of equity investments in listed Indian companies; interim president of a troubled Greek cruise line and establishing technology JV’s in China. Seth’s projects, master-class teaching and speaking engagements have taken him to Mexico, Guatemala, Argentina, Greece, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai, India, Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Seth is proud to be an emerging markets pioneer in socially responsible (SRI) and impact investing by incorporating environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into the investment process, and promoting enhanced CSR practices and reporting. Seth is responsible for facilitating PRI’s initial India market presence. EM Capital Management is a signatory to the UN Global Compact and PRI and member of US SIF and has participated in the development of the Social Accounting Standards Board (SASB).

Not all startups go as planned and as a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) Seth advises and serves as interim CXO for startups, underperforming and troubled businesses, their investors, lenders, boards and creditors. He is a frequent contributor on Bloomberg TV, CNBC, CNBC Awaaz, CNBC Bajar and ET Now in India and in print and online media. Seth has been an invited speaker at leading business schools including, UC Berkeley Haas, Harvard, Chicago Booth, Wharton, Georgetown, NYU Stern and Thunderbird. He earned an MBA in International Management from Thunderbird.
